BREAKFAST, AFTER SCHOOL AND HOLIDAY CLUBS

BREAKFAST CLUB

Long lasting benefits from attending a breakfast club

Research shows that providing children with a good breakfast and the opportunity to play before school starts has beneficial long-term effects on their education. Experts have found that children who attend high-quality breakfast programmes have better vocabularies and more advanced literacy and maths skills than children who don’t.

In addition, children in breakfast programmes have advanced social skills and are more adaptable to changes and new situations.

We serve a wide selection of foods that children can select from. These include a variety of cereals, toast, rice cakes, yoghurts, pancakes and waffles. Refreshments are available throughout the session. We cater for those children with specific diatary requirements and our clubs are nut free zones.

A positive happy start to the day through food, friendship and play.

TJ KIDS provides a walking bus service from our venue to local schools.

The Benefits of walking to school:

  • Helps contribute to their daily amount of exercise
  • It builds good walking habits from a young age, so they choose to walk more when they can
  • Walking can help build a child's confidence, as well as teaching them the rules of the road and how to walk safely
  • It can help strengthen relationships with friends they walk with, which is important for all age groups
  • It is good for the environment as less congestion and traffic so less pollution
  • Each walking bus has an adult 'driver' at the front and a 'conductor' at the rear. Children walk a set route in a group in all weather conditions wearing reflective jackets.
  • We embrace and celebrate the seasons and encourage children to wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions. Nothing more fun than splashing in puddles with wellies, kicking through a pile of fallen leaves, picking up snow to form a snowball or feel the warmth of the sun shine down on your skin.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

HOME FROM HOME IN THE COMMUNITY

TJ Kids has been delivering after school care to St Philips, Morley and Ridgefield Primary schools since November 2010.

We recently relocated to the 13th Scouts Hut Building in Mamora Road Cambridge CB1 3PY. We are now more centrally based to offer our services to those families that need support.

After School Collections

TJ Kids CIC operates from the end of the school day until 6pm. Staff collect children from onsite at the school at designated meeting points.

A walking bus service takes children back to the After School Club at the Scout Hut where they can relax, play with their friends and be supported to participate in freely chosen activities until parents collect them from us.

Children make their own snacks and then choose how to spend their time on site. Indoors or outside, structured or unstructured, the choice is theirs, we are always around to support and ensure children are safe. Staff provide a wide range of resources for them to use in their play and adventures.

TJ Kids CIC encourages loose parts play and free choice.

OFSTED rated our service as Outstanding, see our inspection report for more information about the care we provide.
